Historic Cokesbury Church

Cokesbury Programs

Although Cokesbury is a mission in itself of Market St. Church, it sponsors several special mission benefits to help organizations that help others:

  • On October 19, as part of Onancock’s Ride the Tide activities, Cokesbury sponsored  two performances of “ Capt. Capitano’s Pirate Comedy Show”  to benefit the E.S. Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
  • On November 16, Cokesbury presented “A Night of Music” by a Medley of Friends from Midlothian, VA, directed by Laura Miles, to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Cokesbury Christmas Music Festivals

   For thirteen years, the Christmas Music Festival has been co-sponsored  by Cokesbury Church with OBCA (the Onancock Business and Civic Association) in conjunction with the annual Christmas Homes Tour to benefit a local charity. 

Dining for Women

Dining for Women, a national woman’s giving circle,
holds regular monthly meetings at Cokesbury to learn about and assist in programs that empower women in developing countries to improve their lives and the lives of their families.

Other Regularly Scheduled Services,
Programs and Events

A variety of Market Street Church’s groups including Girl Scouts. Cub Scouts, and Methodist Youth, hold regular meetings at during the school year.  The Orchestra of the E. S. rehearses weekly at Cokesbury and presents performances in the church throughout the year. The Writer’s Studio holds special readings from time to time, and the Eastern Shore Arts Council often presents one of its series concerts at Cokesbury  Ecumenical community worship services are held at Cokesbury during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
